Are you making improvements to your home that involves your current private wastewater system?
BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
Visit ourFormspage to get an application for permit for a private wastewater system.
Fill it out as completely as possible, including signing the front and back
Make a drawing of the building site including the location of the house, driveway, any nearby creeks, streams or ponds, existing and future utilities, etc.
Submit the application, drawing and the $325 application fee to either the NEKES office or the Atchison County Health Department.
THE PROCESS:
Once the application is received, NEKES will contact you to conduct a site evaluation to determine the best system and location for your situation.
We will send the site evaluation results to the homeowner who will then show it to their installer.
You will have your private wastewater system installed using anNEKESlicensed wastewater installer. A list of these can be foundhere.
TheHOMEOWNERis required to notify NEKES when their system is complete.
A final inspection will be conducted by NEKES and a final use permit sent to the homeowner.
THINGS TO KNOW:
ALL lagoons MUST be fenced according to the Environmental Health Codes of Atchison Countybeforethe final use permit is issued.
All septic systems must have a final drawing of their system submitted to the NEKES officebeforethe final use permit is issued.
Allwork must be done by wastewater installers that are licensed throughNEKES.
